Competition - Yamhill Valley Camera Club

Our camera club hosts a monthly competition based on two levels: A local club competition, and an interclub competition under the auspices of the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs (4Cs). Photographs are scored on a nine point system and the images receiving the highest scores locally are automatically entered in the monthly 4Cs competition.

We currently enter images in two categories: slides and Electronic Imaging Division (EID). Five images are submitted to each category, so ten images from the top scoring images are submitted. Both competitions count toward club points.

The 4Cs competition year corresponds to our September through April images. The images we judge in September are entered in the October 4Cs competition, etc. Competition images from May through August are for local club competition only.

Submitting Images For Competition

You must be a paid member of the club to submit images for competition, and the images must have been taken by you.
Image files must be in jpeg format.
Image files should be in sRGB color space. If you don't know what that means, then your images are almost certainly OK.
You can submit up to 3 images each month in the club competition.
Since the images in our competition could end up in either the slide or EID competition, image files should be submitted full size. That means that you shouldn't resize the image file. Just use the image size from your camera (with possible cropping). That will allow for the best quality for images that are submitted to the 4Cs slide competition. Images submitted to the 4Cs EID competition will be resized for you.
Image file names should consist of your name, our club's code (YVCC), and the title of the image. These 3 fields should be separated by an underscore character, and there should be no space characters in the name.

If you wish to submit 35mm slides for competition judging, please send an email to the slide chair ahead of time so that we can be sure to have the slide projector available at the meeting.
